The North "Rocks" For Charity

Workshop Summary - April 2004

Home
The all-weekend 2004 Linedance Workshop in the beautiful City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario was a great success for it's 3rd year. I'd like to thank everyone who participated in our annual workshop which was held April 16-18/04, and to all the big-hearted linedancers who participated and the super generous instructors and dj Lynn Warden who made this event a huge success.

Wow! I can't believe everything is all finished up for it's 3rd year... Thanks to all the instructors: Fred Buckley, "Croc", Donna Channon, Suzette Nelson, Kathy K, Cathy M, Michele Gilliland, Valarie Keller, Dan Morrison, and all the participants who have helped once again to Make Cancer History!
With everyone's help we raised
$1900 donated to The Canadian Cancer Society May 12/04. (year 1 - $2400, year 2 - $1809 - we have donated $6109 to-date)
Bless you
all for helping me out and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.
Proceeds from the Penny Table sale = $599, Raffle tickets = $691, and an extra draw for the Pampered Chef basket of goodies (donated by Dione and myself), and the Food Basics huge basket of goodies(Food Basics Hanmer Plaza) brought in another $255, and $355 from miscellaneous sales and fees. Thanks to everyone and i mean everyone who has helped to make this happen. Thanks to all my volunteers because without your help this couldn't happen.
The date has been set for
next year's event and it will be April 22, 23, 24 2005 at the Navy League Hall in Sudbury, if you haven't had a chance to attend yet then perhaps next year will work for you to come to Sudbury. See y'all on the dance floor!

Betty our Penny Sale Queen!

Our main hall DJ Lynn Warden did a fantastic job!!!! Thanks Lynn !!! You are the best! (all the way from Niagara Falls!!!) My camera died and took all the pictures of my workshop, but here is a picture of Lynn taken May 15/04 in NewMarket.

Thanks to all the dancers here in the main hall !

Thanks to each and every one of you who helped make this weekend a huge success for another year..

Thanks to the Valley Girls for all their help again this year.... thanks to Colette again for the beautiful decorations hanging from the ceiling.... it was quite a climb up there...and she also painted the beautiful Penny Sale jars.

Our group of instructors ..... Dan Morrison (Orillia), Anita McNab (Dowling), Cathy Montgomery (Grand Valley), Fred Buckley (Toronto), Valarie Keller (Niagara Falls), Michele Gilliland (Guelph), Donna Channon (Dowling), Robert "Croc" Young(Shelburne), Suzette Nelson (Huntsville), Kathy K (Mississauga)

The Instructors' skit this year was Me (Anita) trying to teach a bunch of exchange instructors from Hawaii.... it was quite a job!!! I taught them a new dance called Northern Getaway, (to the Kenny Chesney/Uncle Kraker song When the Sun Goes Down,) choreographed by Anita McNab especially for this event! All the instructors were loaded up with leis and as they danced this new circle dance, they would break away from the circle and grab people, lei them....lol and bring them into the circle to dance with us. This worked extremely well and everyone had a great time!!
Me, Croc, Hope, Dan, Val, Fred, Kathy, Cathy, Michele, Suzette, Donna
The Determinators with Shirley Robinson, from Orillia, performing for the 3rd year now (taught Rub It In, one of my easy dances and once again I was very moved to see these guys dance it for me)....and as always a great job done! Shirley lost one of her group this year to Alzeimers Disease. She will be missed.
