"Rocks" for Charity Workshop Previous
Years
Anita McNab presented cheque to Cathy Burns, the Canadian Cancer
Society for Cancer Research in the amount of
$3,500 to donate to the Canadian
Cancer Research department!!
Thank
you to everyone who helped make this year another success!!!
God Bless You All!!!
It
was also our 6th Anniversary this year and since
2002 we've raised and donated
$15, 910.00
for
cancer research!!!!
Thanks to all my friends and fellow dancers for helping me to
make this possible.
There
are so many to thank and I don't want to forget anyone, so I will
say a huge thank you to everyone (you know who you are) and to
all my local ladies for their contributions to the decoration of
the hall, the gathering of gifts for the penny sale table and
raffle, and a special thanks to Colette Proulx, my main artist
who created those beautiful hats that adorned the stage wall.
Great job done Colette!

Cathy Burns and Anita - opening ceremonies Friday night. Cathy is
my contact at the Sudbury Canadian Cancer Office.

Below:
my fantastic DJ - Lynn Warden from Niagara Falls...

The workshop would not have been such a success without it's one
and only LYNN WARDEN , DJ Extraordinaire....... Thank you Lynn
for donating your time, travel and expertise!
You always had people on the floor dancing and with an excellent
balance between country - non-country and beginner - intermediate
etc.
See you here next year as Lynn has graciously agreed to be my DJ
in 2008 again!

My daughter Dione usually handles the door and everything else
regarding money, sales, registrations and anything else at the
actual event with the help of a couple of my dancers on opening
night ,
... but this year she could not attend as she had just given
birth to my precious grand-daughter Parise (see from link on main
page)...
So my other daughter Crystal (below) took over her place. Crystal
is the youngest of our 6 kids and a recent graduate in Business
Management from Georgian College in Barrie.
This workshop was a complete
"jump-in-and-take-over-cold-turkey-with-no-training-thing"
for her. lol ....
All she had to say is "Dione - you're not allowed to have
any more babies.... especially around workshop time!"
You did a great job Crystal and everyone enjoyed meeting you!!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart, I couldn't have done it
without your help! I am so fortunate to have my daughters help me
out this way, love you both!

Below:
My husband Bill (yes I wrote the dance "His Name is
Bill" for my husband and we actually did meet on a Monday)!!
This year we were allowed to sell water to aid in our fundraising
and my husband volunteered for the first time to take on this
task. You did a great job Bill and thanks from the bottom of my
heart, I couldn't have done it alone and everyone was finally
able to meet my "phantom" husband! (note: my husband
does not linedance) lol

Below:
Here I am enjoying my Timmies coffee and displaying the hand-made
rocking motorcycle that my husband Bill made and donated to our
workshop for the 2nd year. Also showing the cross stitch picture
donated by one of my ladies Jeannine and the third raffle prize
was a man's coat donated by Diane and Don Pilon. Thanks to
everyone who helped make this such a success again this year!
We also had a successful Penny Table
again this year thanks to Pete Lefebvre and her helpers. Thanks
so much for your hard work on Saturday!!!

Instructors at this event

From
left to right are this year's instructors:
Donna Channon, Marthe Thibeault, Jan Fregonese, Anita, Valerie
Keller, Michele Carver, and Leanne Nahrgang.
So many ,many thanks need to go out to these top class
instructors who travel up north, donate their time and money to
help make this workshop fun and successful!! Thanks from the
bottom of my heart guys!! Special thanks to Leanne for being such
a good sport, she didn't know she was going to be an instructor
until she actually arrived (my surprise and also added her dances
to my book) and she did an excellent job on her first appearance.
Below:
Some of the participants .... not as quiet as they look!

Below:
My linedance group The OFC Wild Stompers! (5 dancers, 2 admin and
me) from the Lively Friendship Centre performed this year and did
a fantastic job for their very first public appearance! Great job
everyone! I'm so proud of you!

I came about teaching this group because long ago I had asked
Shirley Robinson how I could get involved with a group like her
Determinators.... Shirley introduced me to Cathy Oja (3rd from
top at back) and it's been a pleasure working with them ever
since!
Below:
